About the Virginia Birds Journal

The VSO Board approved the publication of a journal to record bird sightings in Virginia at the February 2004 Board meeting. The first reporting period was Summer 2004. Alan Schreck and Linda Fields were the inaugural editors, and came up with the idea of a publication that would record interesting seasonal bird sightings and detect trends over time. All VSO members receive a subscription to The VA Birds Journal as one of the benefits of society membership.

Reporting

Please send your unusual, interesting, early, late, etc. sightings to the Regional Editors (see below for contact information). If you would like to submit an article, please email the Editor, Matt Anthony. Photographs should be emailed to Photo Editor, Max Nootbaar. Photographs should be the highest electronic quality possible and sent with the VSO Photography Release Form. VSO members receive the publication as part of membership.

Deadlines for submitting your reports to the Regional Editors:
Spring (Mar - May): June 15
Summer (Jun - Jul): August 15
Fall (Aug - Nov): December 15
Winter (Dec - Feb): March 15
